Reese Witherspoon is well known for her stylish Christmas porch displays, often sharing images of her decor on Instagram. However, this holiday season Reese has championed the value of adding a personal touch to decorations by making her own wreath.
The actress attended a wreath-making workshop hosted by London’s luxury florist Claridge's Flowers, and made a stunning natural foliage wreath, adorned with ruby red winter berries and pinecones.

1. Gather Greenery and Berries
Fir branches are perfect to get the look of Reese’s wreath, but you should use anything you have available in the garden. Alternatively, forage for greenery on local walks.
Spruce, eucalyptus, and holly are all fabulous festive choices, and you can even add herbs such as rosemary or bay leaves to add further interest and an aromatic touch.
Berries really make a natural wreath – holly, wintergreen, or viburnum are good options. Rose hips can also add a charming touch.

Select healthy-looking branches, combining different lengths and textures. Ensure the branches are fairly malleable as you need to be able to bend them around into a circular shape.
Use clean, sharp pruners to cut the branches, and wear gardening gloves to protect your hands. Put the cut ends into a bucket of water to keep them fresh until you are ready to make your wreath.
If you would like to add pinecones to your wreath, then gather these and clean them. Allow them to dry and open up a little in the warmth before use.
2. Get Your Frame Ready
You will need a wire wreath frame as a base for your wreath. These are available in a range of sizes, but to recreate the impact of Reese’s wreath, choose a 16 or 20-inch frame. Bear in mind the wreath will look even bigger when you add the foliage.
Next, you will need to add moss to your wreath. This will help to anchor your foliage, add volume, and also retain moisture to keep things fresh. It’s available to purchase in bags from most garden centers.
Grab handfuls of moss and hold them in position on your frame, before wrapping it with floristry wire to secure it in place. Work your way around the wreath until it is covered fairly thickly with moss.
3. Add Foliage
Take your branches and, using pruners, snip the stems to a manageable size. Poke each stem end into the moss and build up a small section before moving on to the next. While the moss will hold the foliage to some degree, you will need to use floristry wire to keep it held securely in place.
Work in a circular fashion, mixing up different foliage colors and textures, varying the length of individual branches, but keeping a consistent shape overall.
As well as your main foliage, it’s a good idea to add accent foliage, such as holly or herbs.
4. Decorate with Berries
Colorful berries make a gorgeous accent in Reese’s wreath. Add a few sprays in an even arrangement around the wreath, but don’t overdo it.
Fix the berries in place with floristry wire.
5. Attach Pinecones
There are so many wonderful pinecone Christmas crafts, and a few thoughtfully placed cones finish off Reese’s wreath to perfection. To attach pinecones, take a length of fine wire and wrap it around the base of the cone, sliding it in between the scales to conceal it. Twist off the ends, then cut leaving a little bit of length, and push into the wreath.
Finish your design with a fabulous red festive bow and feel the joy every time you arrive home.
